After an exciting week one, full of surprises, the Seahawks are gearing up for another match at Lumen Field.
This time, they’ll be facing Sam Darnold and the Kansas City Chiefs, led by Patrick Mahomes, who are coming off a strong season.
In their recent opener, Mike McDonald’s team fought to a 23-23 tie with the Las Vegas Raiders. Interestingly, despite not being active during the game, former Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith, now with the Raiders, gave a cheeky salute to a fan holding a sign that asked, “Biger Bust – Geno or Jamal Cass Russell?”
The Chiefs also had a notable preseason start, with a close 20-17 win against the Arizona Cardinals. Backup quarterback Bailey Zappe managed to complete eight out of 17 passes, though he did throw two interceptions, totaling 70 yards.
This matchup marks the first clash between the two teams since Christmas Eve 2022, where Mahomes and Travis Kelce led the Chiefs to a 24-10 victory.
