On Friday's broadcast of Fox News Channel's “Special Report,” House Majority Whip Rep. Tom Emmer (R-Minn.) said that if Republicans choose to pass a major reconciliation bill, the House will probably He said he believed the bill would be passed by then. And the bill could be on the president's desk by Memorial Day.
Host Bret Baier asked, “What do you think of this back and forth about whether there's one package or a bite at the apple for budget adjustment or there's one?” [are] Two to split immigration and taxes this year? What do you think of it now?
Emmer said, “Well, that's Donald Trump's call. He's going to call right away and say this is what I want. And as soon as he does, Brett, we're going to go either way. I’m ready to accept it.”
Emmer continued, “If we want to introduce two bills and one bill in February, if the Speaker goes there, we'll get it done. And I think it's going to be a lot leaner.” So it would be possible to get the bill out of the House much sooner, perhaps a little before Memorial Day, but then the Senate would have to do its work. It will stop happening.”
“If it's one big bill, if it's the president's decision, we can probably pass it in the House by the end of March, and if the Senate does its job properly, we can get it by Memorial Day.” We can get it to the president's desk.”
