Beloved talk show host Dr. Phil McGraw recently visited the U.S.-Mexico border and asked U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents to estimate the number of illegal border crossings that actually occur and how to solve the problem. He revealed that he had given it to him.
After the trip, McGraw told Fox News’ Sean Hannity that the Biden administration’s border policies are encouraging bad behavior.
“One of the most basic psychological principles is not to reward bad behavior,” says psychologist McGraw.
The doctor explained that he wanted to talk to border officials who are spearheading border defense to find out what the real problems are in dealing with this influx of illegal immigrants.
“They’re fighting a battle of morale because they can’t get what they need,” he reported. “And I wanted to know what’s going on here? What’s actually going on? I’m hearing this number, 6 million people have been encountered under the current administration. That’s the thing.”
But McGraw noted that sources say the rate of illegal encounters at the border is actually much higher than officially reported.
“I spoke to local experts who say that number is a myth and that the actual number of sightings is closer to 13 to 14 million.”
On a mission to find solutions, the famous host clarified that he is not saying border officials need more money or resources or more Border Patrol agents. Rather, they simply stated that current U.S. federal law should be applied and enforced.
“We don’t need more laws. All we need is to abide by the laws that are on the books. We need to be allowed to do our jobs; We can get this problem under control now,” McGraw said.
Dr. Phil also explained the different reactions that certain law enforcement agencies can provoke. Texas authorities arrest and deport illegal border crossers, while federal agents use a catch-and-release approach.

Days earlier, McGraw was photographed at the border wall in Eagle Pass, Texas, and was heard speaking out about the huge numbers of illegal immigrants who have crossed the border under President Biden’s administration.
“In just three years, more than 6 million illegal immigrants have crossed the southern Texas border, which is more than the population of 33 states in this country,” McGraw said.
The doctor also blamed the vice president for failing to properly address the issue.
