During an appearance on MSNBC's “Deadline: The White House” on Monday, former Sen. Claire McCaskill (D-Missouri), now an MSNBC contributor, spoke about Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minnesota) for the vice president on Tuesday. ) urged viewers to lower their expectations for the performance. -Presidential debates.
McCaskill said he expected Sen. J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) to prepare for the debate.
“Well, I'm just a little worried about the anticipated game at the moment,” she said. “People think, yeah, J.D. Vance said some very unqualified things about women and his views on people and their roles in his life. But he spoke up clearly and prepared. And for Tim Walz, to counter what he's trying to bring, and at the same time remain really likable and relatable and present himself to the American people. I think it's going to be a really tough challenge to be able to instill confidence that we're better at standing by in case something happens to the president.”
“So I think we need to lower our expectations a little bit so that if I'm wrong and just like Kamala Harris mopped the floor with Donald Trump, Tim Walz will mop the floor with him.” If we just wiped the floor together, we might all be pleasantly surprised,” McCaskill added.
