Iran Goldenberg, former aide to President Joe Biden, told Israeli Channel 13 that he has tried to drive away terrorist attacks by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Hamas since October 7, 2023.
Channel 13 Interview Goldenberg points out that Biden administration officials were reluctant to speak early in the Trump administration for fear of retaliation, but they are now telling their stories.
Goldenberg, who led the Biden administration’s right-wing Israeli sanctions efforts and later became the Jewish outreach director of Vice President Kamala Harris’ presidential election, told Channel 13 that he wanted the Biden White House to use the popularity of the Israeli 7 Post-Octoteau to force the usual spread of Israeli and Natanyahu’s post-Octouteau seven.
Goldenberg suggested that the Biden administration would even be happy to consider undemocratic measures to remove Netanyahu (add emphasis):
There were a lot of people talking in an occasional oval office, including ideas for the president to go out and give a speech. … [Opposition leader] Benny Gantz was 37 years old [seats] And Vivi seemed 15 years old. [in polls]right? Likewise, he was very weak. Joe Biden was still incredibly popular in Israel.
…
You can end the war, take out all the hostages, get them, get deals that include even numbers, perhaps you know, you may try to continue doing what you are doing – you will continue doing what you are doing, Israel is an eternal war, you know, your sons and daughters will continue to fight, the majority of the hostages will die in the house. …The idea is to force Netanyahu to come on board, to see if it can take away Israel’s politics and trigger elections, or see what God knows. That’s what people were saying – it’s not good anywhere, so let’s split this up.
Goldenberg’s claims support historical records. Last March, President Biden approved a strange call by then-religious majority leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) to help Israelis expel Netanyahu in new elections.
However, Netanyahu’s popularity rebelled against Biden in Israel, launching an attack on Rafa, a town on the border with Gaza’s Egyptian border, saving hostages and ultimately killing Hamas leader Yahya Singwar.
There was no point in the Biden administration having sufficient commitment from Hamas to know if Goldenberg would actually explain it. Hamas refused almost every transaction and never committed to freeing all Israeli hostages.
