Mayor Eric Adams issued a strong warning to antifa activists, asserting that he would not permit them to “destroy our cities” amidst escalating violent anti-ICE protests across the nation.
“I recognize that there are individuals who travel throughout our country, embedding themselves in movements like Antifa,” Adams told Newsmax on Wednesday night.
“Their main aim is to provoke unrest, create confusion, and obstruct our law enforcement efforts,” he added.
He mentioned, “We’ll identify them quickly, remove them from the crowd, and apply appropriate police procedures when they cross the line.”
Law enforcement reported that the NYPD apprehended 10 individuals on Wednesday in New York City.
After major protests in lower Manhattan turned chaotic on Tuesday, the number of detentions dropped significantly from over 80.
Police Chief Jessica Tish has stated that the NYPD will tighten control as violence also spikes in cities like Los Angeles, asserting that the protests are spiraling out of control.
“I will support peaceful demonstrations, but I will not tolerate actions that destroy the city or endanger innocent lives,” Adams remarked.
“And whenever such incidents happen, we will respond accordingly.”
In another context, Kyzaner criticized the idea of “outside agitators.” He previously compared students to those at Columbia University during last year’s anti-Israel protests, calling them “radicalized.”
“During Columbia’s protests, I discussed how outside, professional agitators aim to influence students on campus,” he recalled.
“Some materials being distributed express hatred for America, Israel, and Jews.”
“When protesters broke into the dorms, we intervened appropriately. We discovered that some of these individuals were experts from other states actively promoting a takeover at Hamilton Hall,” he continued.
“We see similar tactics used here. These are skilled individuals who thrive on confusion and property destruction.”
