According to police reports, a prostitution sting in Ohio has resulted in the arrest of Jed York, the billionaire owner of the San Francisco 49ers.
The 46-year-old was taken into custody around 9:30 AM on Sunday at the Wheat Hill Mobile Home Community in East Palestine.
York, acknowledging the situation, offered to donate the $160 seized during his arrest to the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force.
As per the New York Post, police stated that York had accessed a known prostitution website in Columbiana County and arranged to meet a prostitute for $140.
Instead of a planned romantic encounter, he found himself being apprehended by an agent from the task force.
The trailer park representative commented on Facebook, stating that while the arrest occurred on their property, they were not involved in the sting operation.
“The news of this incident in our quiet community is as shocking to us as it is to everyone else,” noted the park manager. “We support law enforcement but have no additional details about the matter.”
Initially, York faced charges for engaging in prostitution and possession of criminal tools, although the prostitution charge was later reduced to disorderly conduct.
After pleading no contest, he was fined $1,150 and sentenced to two days in jail.
Additionally, he reaffirmed his commitment to donate the confiscated funds to the human trafficking task force.
An NFL spokesperson remarked that the league is “aware of the matter” and will be evaluating it in accordance with the personal conduct policy.
The 49ers characterized the incident as a “legal matter” that has been resolved and opted not to provide further commentary.
Believed to be valued at approximately $8.5 billion, the York family’s wealth primarily stems from the valuation of the football team.
Originally hailing from Youngstown, Ohio, Jed York is married to Danielle Belluomini and together they have two sons.
