Iconic horror author and far-left activist Stephen King is calling for the Academy Awards to be canceled as wildfires continue to rage in the Los Angeles area.
Martin Luther King, Jr., is currently in the midst of a glitzy award ceremony, not to mention the wildfires that have ripped through the city in the past few weeks, destroying more than 12,000 structures, killing 20 people and displacing tens of thousands. I don't think it's the right time to hold an event.
author of shining On Wednesday, he took to his Blue Sky account to tell fans he wasn't even planning on voting for this year's Oscars.
“I won't be voting at this year's Oscars. In my opinion, they should cancel them. No glamor as Los Angeles burns,” he wrote on January 15.

In another post, King called on Hollywood to halt large parties altogether.
“I know what you're saying about the Oscars. The Oscars are a celebration of life, and somehow, somehow, the show must go on,” King wrote. Friday's small social media post.
“It all makes some sense, but to me it feels like Nero messing around while Rome burns. Or in this case, wearing fancy clothes while Los Angeles burns.” ” he added.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences had already moved to postpone the Oscars by postponing nominations and extending the voting period as the city deals with the fallout from the fires. The Academy added that nominations will be announced on January 23rd and voting will be postponed to a January 15th deadline.
Some are calling for changes to the Oscars in the wake of the fires. For example, actress Jean Smart said that television networks that air shows should donate 100 percent of their profits to wildfire victims and firefighters.
“Attention! With all due respect, any network airing the upcoming awards during Hollywood's gala season is seriously considering not airing the awards and donating the proceeds they would have earned to the fire victims and firefighters.” I hope you will consider it,” she wrote on Instagram.
