Week 3 NFL betting selections featuring two underdog teams

Weekly Sports Picks

We’ve got a two-week span that needs addressing.

After starting the first week with a record of 1-2, the results were the same in the second week. It wasn’t until Monday night that I finally got a victory.

Maybe that was the boost we needed.

If you’ve followed my picks over the past two weeks, you’re sitting at 4-2, so perhaps this effort is paying off after all.

Now, let’s dive into this week’s pick. As usual, the line comes from Fan Duel.

Jacksonville Jaguars vs. Houston Texans

Fan Duel Line: Jacksonville -2.5
Spread Pick: Houston +2.5

Yes, the Texans are 0-2 following a last-minute loss to the Buccaneers. And sure, they have some offensive issues to figure out.

But their defense is creating significant challenges. They pressured Baker Mayfield consistently during that game. Now they’re up against Trevor Lawrence, who’s already thrown three interceptions and has a yard average that ranks him 24th in the league, even behind CJ Stroud.

I think the Texans might just claim their first win this Sunday.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. New York Giants

Fan Duel Line: Kansas City -5.5
Spread Pick: Kansas City -5.5

Yes, Kansas City is also 0-2, and there are concerns about whether it’s time to start panicking.

However, I believe context matters here. Their two losses came against previous playoff teams—division rivals in week one and the Eagles in a Super Bowl rematch during week two.

This week, they face a struggling New York Giants team that did manage to show some fight in an overtime loss against the Cowboys.

The Chiefs haven’t started the season impressively, but this seems like a pivotal game to help calm any rising concerns in Kansas City.

Detroit Lions vs. Baltimore Ravens

Fan Duel Line: Baltimore -5.5
Spread Pick: Detroit +5.5

This matchup could easily be termed the “game of the week,” and I’m not simply saying that because I picked it as my Super Bowl matchup before the season started…

However, the last time these teams met wasn’t much of a contest, with the Ravens dominating 38-6 last October.

This time feels different. The Lions really came alive last week against the Bears, where Jared Goff and the offense significantly improved after a rocky start against the Packers.

On the other hand, while the Ravens have been solid against the pass, their run defense has left much to be desired. They’ve given up a high number of points this season, creating possible opportunities for Jahmyr Gibbs and David Montgomery.

Even if Baltimore is expected to perform well, I think the Lions will at least keep it interesting.
