Police leveled new charges against Wieser bassist Scott Schliner’s wife, saying Gillian Lauren Schliner shot him last week during an unrelated search for a hit-and-run suspect in Los Angeles, California.
As reported previously by Blaze News, the California Highway Patrol requested police backup to find three hit-and-run suspects who fled the crime scene around 3:25pm on Tuesday. The suspect reportedly ran near Eagle Rock from the crash site.
“Then Schliner pointed a handgun at an officer and there was a shooting involving the officer.”
Schliner, the 51-year-old bestseller author and wife of Weezer’s bassist, is said to have left her home while police officers were searching for three suspects. Police said Schliner was armed with a handgun.
Police allegedly ordered Schliner to drop her weapon “plural times,” but she reportedly refused to place the firearm.
“The officer ordered Schreiner to drop the handgun multiple times, but she refused.” KNBC-TV. “Then Schliner pointed a handgun at an officer and a shooting involving the officer.”
Jennifer Falksh, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Police Department; Los Angeles Times Schliner reported that “it was opened for the officers.”
The officers allegedly returned the fire and shot Schliner.
Schliner was then told he left her house and surrendered to the police. She was taken to hospital with a life-threatening gunshot wound.
Police reportedly recovered a 9mm handgun from Schliner’s home.
Investigators reviewed the incident video. This is said to indicate that Shriner is firing her gun at LAPD officers.
The officer allegedly told the dispatcher, “She has a gun in her hand.”

Schliner was charged with attempted murder of a peace officer.
According to California law, convictions of attempted murder of a peace officer without a plan will be punished in prison for up to nine years. Using firearms could potentially increase prison sentences.
She was released from custody on a $1 million bond around 10pm Wednesday, prison records show.
Schliner is scheduled to appear in court on April 30th.
The officers determined that Schliner was not involved in the Hit and Run incident.
Meanwhile, the California Highway Patrol said it had arrested him in a nearby backyard about an hour after the incident began, saying he was a suspected hit-and-run driver.
Police say the other two suspects who fled the hit and run have not yet been found.
Shriner’s manager Charlie Fusco did not comment on the incident when asked Los Angeles Times.
Gillian Lauren Schliner and Weezer bassist Scott Schliner got married in 2005.
When asked about his wife, Schliner, 59, said TMZ“She’s fine, thank you for asking.”
He then told reporters, “See you at Coachella!”
Schliner performed with Weezer’s bandmates at the Coachella Music Festival on Saturday.

Shriner has recorded 12 studio albums since joining Weezer in 2001.
