WH criticizes Democratic leaders while a legally charged undocumented immigrant stays free

The Trump administration is expressing criticism towards Minnesota leaders, accusing them of not fully recognizing the challenges faced by immigrants and those held by customs enforcement. This follows reports about illegal immigrants involved in serious crimes, like a recent case where individuals are believed to have committed vehicular homicide.

Adriano Langari Inga, an individual from Ecuador, has several charges, including driving under the influence from an incident last August that resulted in a tragic collision.

There’s a narrative being pushed that “illegal immigrants are eluding justice after causing fatal accidents, and Democrats haven’t done enough to address such issues.”

New Republican legislation proposes severe penalties, including the death penalty, for immigrant perpetrators.

In response, the administration claims it’s taking steps to hold jurisdictions that identify as “sanctuaries” accountable. An ICE spokesperson provided information about Langari Inga’s detention, stating he was initially arrested for a serious crime and then released from Hennepin County Jail without proper communication to ICE.

The Sheriff’s Department mentioned compliance with guidelines issued by Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison regarding immigration enforcement.

Fox News highlights Florida’s Highway Patrol beginning to apply federal immigration laws on local roads.

As per Attorney General guidelines, Hennepin County Sheriff’s Office cannot keep individuals in detention solely based on ICE’s requests. They emphasize the importance of upholding the constitutional rights of individuals.

Fox News attempted to contact Mayor Jacob Frey, the Minneapolis Police Department, and Ellison for their input on this matter.

The Democratic mayor faced backlash after declaring major cities would become “safe shelters” for immigrants.

Last month, Trump introduced a new executive order to enforce stricter policies regarding “sanctuary jurisdictions,” threatening their federal funding unless they amend their immigration procedures.

Mayor Frey expressed concerns over the ambiguities surrounding the term “sanctuary city,” during an interview, asserting that it’s not the role of his administration to enforce federal immigration rules. Minneapolis operates under an ordinance that prevents police from asking about individuals’ immigration status.

In addition to Frey, another Minnesota Democratic representative stated that they will continue to advocate for undocumented immigrants’ rights amidst the rising tension related to Trump’s immigration stance, emphasizing community awareness and vigilance against potential ICE actions.
