The White House caused controversy Thursday by offering its condolences to O.J. Simpson’s family, without mentioning the families of Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman. The two men were charged with (and acquitted of) his murder, and were later found unanimously responsible for his death. In a civil trial.
“Our thoughts are with his family. [sic] Of course, with their families and loved ones during this difficult time,” White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said at a briefing.
“And I’ll say this: I know they requested privacy. So we’re going to respect that. And I’ll leave it there,” she added. Ta.
Simpson’s family announced Thursday that he died at the age of 76 after a battle with prostate cancer.
“He was surrounded by his children and grandchildren,” his family said in a statement. “His family asks that you respect their wishes for privacy and grace during this transitional period.”

As reported by Breitbart News, after a prolific football career that included 11 seasons in the NFL as a star running back for the Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers, Simpson’s star power was eclipsed by the murder of his ex-girlfriend in the early 1990s. It all came crashing down when he was indicted on charges of. his wife Nicole Brown and her friend Ron Goldman; After a long and controversial trial, he was acquitted of these murders, but later in a civil trial a jury unanimously declared him responsible for their deaths.

The Goldman family only expressed sadness upon hearing of O.J.’s death, stating that it reminded them of Ron Goldman’s absence.
“The only thing I have to say is this is just another reminder that Ron has been gone all these years” Fred Goldman he told NBC News.
“It’s not a great loss to the world. It’s just another reminder that Ron is gone,” he added.
