White House Press Director Addresses FBI Report on Adam Schiff

Karoline Leavitt, the White House press director, has drawn attention to a recently declassified report from FBI Director Kash Patel. The report alleges that Democratic Senator Adam Schiff from California leaked classified information to undermine President Donald Trump’s reputation.

A whistleblower, referred to as a “Democrat staff,” reportedly brought these claims to the FBI in 2017, suggesting that Schiff authorized the release of sensitive information to provoke Trump’s prosecution.

“Last night, Kash Patel revealed that a Democrat whistleblower declassified an FBI document showing that a career intelligence officer, who worked with Democrats on the House Intelligence Committee, repeatedly cautioned the FBI in 2017,” Leavitt stated.

This unnamed source has spent over two decades in the intelligence community before serving 12 years on the House Intelligence Committee as a Democrat.

Congress members are granted access to classified information for legislative purposes and oversight. However, if the leaks were intended to influence legal actions, it raises significant legal issues.

“Patel highlighted how certain officials have, for years, selectively leaked classified information to shape political narratives,” Leavitt noted. “This was done to weaponize intelligence and law enforcement for political gain, eroding public trust in our institutions. The FBI will collaborate with the DOJ, and Congress will seek to address how political power has been misused and to restore accountability.”

The whistleblower indicated that concerns became more pronounced among committee members following Trump’s 2016 election victory.

“Ranking Members” [referring to Schiff] were particularly upset, believing the CIA director was aligned with Hillary Clinton. According to a summary of interviews accessed by a publication, Schiff thought Russia had compromised the election and that the U.S. was facing a constitutional crisis. Leaks began reaching the media during this time, with suggestions that leaking information was a method to disrupt the administration and address this crisis.

Furthermore, the whistleblower recounted a meeting that involved Schiff discussing how a group was leaking classified information aimed at indicting President Trump.

The whistleblower also expressed concerns during the meeting about the legality of disclosing such sensitive information, but others reportedly reassured him that they wouldn’t leak anything.

Interestingly, the whistleblower claims to have been approached again with similar proposals targeting Trump.

When questioned by a reporter about possibly pursuing action against Schiff for these allegations, Trump stated his desire for accountability regarding “the countless lies that Adam Schiff told Americans in relation to the Russian scandal.”

In response to the report, Schiff’s office firmly denied the allegations, labeling them as “absolute and decisively false.” The spokesman asserted that this was a continuation of defamatory attacks from Trump and his allies, aimed at distracting from falling poll numbers and other scandals.

“These baseless attacks rely on claims that are unreliable and unfounded, stemming from disgruntled former staff members fired from the House Intelligence Committee in early 2017,” he added.

Adding more context, a July report from National Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard noted that individuals from the Obama administration allegedly plotted to utilize the intelligence community to craft damaging narratives against Trump, despite receiving intelligence reports contradicting their narrative.

At the moment, there haven’t been any legal steps taken in connection to the accusations stemming from the leak. Nevertheless, Schiff is currently under investigation regarding purported mortgage fraud tied to how he’s managed his Maryland property while claiming it as his primary residence for favorable loan terms.

The investigation is ongoing, with the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Maryland leading the efforts. Schiff has firmly denied any misconduct, arguing that the investigation is politically motivated.
