A delirious beggar stabbed a woman multiple times at a Queens subway station on Sunday after demanding cash from her, police said.
According to authorities, 24-year-old Randall Contreras stabbed a 23-year-old unknown man multiple times in the torso on the mezzanine level of the Jamaica Van Wyck E station in Richmond Hill around 8:30 p.m. before two well-meaning people intervened and handed him over to police.
Police said violence erupted when Contreras demanded money from the woman, leading to a confrontation between the two strap drivers.
The woman was rushed to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center and is said to be in stable condition.
Two good Samaritans, a man and a woman, intervened and grabbed Contreras, preventing him from escaping before officers arrived, police and officials said.
Police arrested Contreras at the scene, police said.
Contreras, of the Bronx, was charged with first-degree attempted robbery and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, authorities said.

“Honestly, I’m not surprised because of the neighborhood and because there are always problems on the E,” the commuter said. “It’s pretty dangerous. It’s expected.”
