Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Wednesday criticized California for continuing to count votes weeks after the Nov. 5 election.
DeSantis wrote: post On X says, “It's the eve of Thanksgiving, and California still hasn't finished counting votes. A 'dump' of ballots after Election Day continues to give Democrats more votes than the two Republican incumbents.”
“Nobody believes this is not completely suspicious.”
He expressed concern that ongoing vote-counting efforts could reduce the Republican House majority to a “barely slim” margin of 220-215.
“What a travesty,” DeSantis declared.
The Republican National Committee reported that it has already filed lawsuits against several states, including California, over the counting of mail-in ballots after Election Day.
RNC Chairman Michael Whatley called the move “absurd.” He noted that California allows ballots received a week after Election Day to be counted, adding that it took the state “almost a month” to count the ballots.
“Every vote in every state matters, and the RNC will work with state parties and candidates to ensure election integrity across the country. We need real election reform to protect California's votes. That is clear,” Whatley declared in a statement. post With X.
He said the RNC and the California Republican Party “have been on the ground across the state with attorneys and observers throughout the voting, remediation and counting process.”
