What Rick Pitino’s son thinks about St. John’s special season

When St. Johns approached Rick Pitino about his head coaching position nearly two years ago, among his strongest allies was Pitino's son Richard.

This was envisioned by a New Mexico head coach.

“Several other jobs were asked. Richard Pitino said he posted in a phone interview. “The New York guy manages. My mom [Joanne] It's the same method. They have great friends. It's really cool to meet my brother, my dad's friend, my aunt, my uncle, my uncle at the garden game. ”

For the first time in 25 years, St. John's has won a big solo victory over the Big East, ranking in the top 10. Rick Pitino explodes and at age 72 leads the Renaissance of New York City's college team. His season leading the Queens program.

“I hope he doesn't stop coaching anytime soon, not because he's winning, but because he really enjoys it and looks like he's making him younger,” Richard Pitino said. Ta. “When you're coaching a team like St. John's, when you sit there and watch Zuby when you're sitting there. [Ejiofor] It looks like Dennis Rodman on the glass. You watch RJ Lewis dive after losing the ball and see the team playing hard for the name on the front of the jersey.

“I think it's a fun group for him to coach because they're legally one of the most difficult teams in the country. That's really validated.”

St. John's is not the only Pitino-led team with a strong season. Mountain West Conference leader New Mexico is also expected to play an NCAA tournament. Coincidentally, on Sunday, both teams played second-place teams in their respective leagues at home, winning a narrow contest to create separation. That night they appeared together on ESPN's Sports Center.

“We live and die from it,” Richard Pitino said.

One of Robo's four losses came against Johnny in the yard in November. There will probably be a rematch for March Madness.
