Wheel of Fortune fans took to social media to air their frustrations after a contestant’s mistake cost them $7,250.
On Tuesday’s episode of the long-running game show, contestant Kimberly Wright, from Apopka, Fla., was unable to complete a puzzle by choosing the wrong letter.
When the puzzle board read “DU _ _ – _ _ LLED PLATYPUS”, Wright chose to spin the wheel and landed on the Express Wedge.
“I’m going to call F,” Wright said to a roar from the studio audience.

Wright apparently believed the correct answer was “a platypus full of ducks” when in reality it was “a platypus with a duck-billed beak.”

After Wright got the answer wrong, contestant Marie Kioski from Owosso, Michigan, solved the puzzle and won a cash prize and a trip to Margaritaville Vacation Club Rio Mar in Puerto Rico.
“Wheel of Fortune” fans quickly took to social media to express their disbelief at Wright’s blunder.
One fan declared: “I’ve never been so furious after watching Wheel of Fortune.” Reply to clip of a viral moment.
“Oh, that hurt. F?? Did she think the platypus was filled? What exactly?” one viewer wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Another fan agreed: “That’s terrible.”

“Where did this woman think the F would fit in this puzzle?” another social media user wondered.
One fan wrote, “The Wheel of Fortune puzzle is clearly a duck-billed platypus and the woman asked for an F like reverse autocorrect.”
“A platypus full of ducks?!” one fan exclaimed.

Another viewer commented: “Oh I hope Red doesn’t get on social media. She’ll get slammed for missing the puzzle.”
“Wheel of Fortune” legend Pat Sajak hosted the episode, which aired nearly a month after taping the final episode.
According to Deadline, Sajak’s final episode, which he hosted for more than 40 years, will air on Friday, June 7. The farewell episode was recorded on April 5th.

In June 2023, Sajak announces his exit from the show.
“Now, the time has come,” Sajak wrote in a statement. “I’ve decided that my 41st season starting in September will be my last. It’s been a great season and I’ll have more to say in the coming months. Thank you everyone. (If nothing else, clickbait The site gets busy!).
Following the news of Sajak’s exit, longtime Wheel of Fortune co-host Vana White tweeted, “When we started @WheelofFortune, we had no idea we would still be around after 41 seasons.” Who could have imagined it? I couldn’t be happier.” I’ve shared the stage with you all these years and I look forward to your continued support, @patsajak!”
A week after Sajak’s news was announced, it was announced that Ryan Seacrest would be taking over as host for season 42.
