When Asked ‘What Happened on July 13?’ AI Fails to Include Trump Assassination Attempt

Google AI doesn't include the assassination attempt on President-elect Donald Trump when a user searches for “What happened on July 13th?” Google censored the assassination attempt soon after, and is now using its controversial AI tools to erase it.

When a user searches for “What happened on July 13th?”, Google displays “AI Overview” above the search results. The document contains many interesting historical facts, including the closure of Ellis Island in 1954. But one of the most important events in recent American history is ignored: the attempted assassination of President-elect Donald Trump in Butler, Pennsylvania.

Google AI censors President Trump assassination attempt

Meanwhile, when a user searches for “What happened on March 30th?”, Google's AI searches for the 1981 assassination attempt on former President Ronald Reagan before a chronological list of other events. Display instantly.

Especially if someone tells a friend, “July 13th was infuriating,” and that friend Googles “What happened on July 13th?” They would find information about many historical events, but not about the assassination attempt on Trump, the most historic event witnessed by many people alive today.

When you search for “What happened on July 13th?” Google's AI Overview says “A lot happened on July 13th” and provides the following information: .

  • 1793: Jean-Paul Marat, leader of the radical Montagnard faction during the French Revolution, is assassinated in a bathhouse by Charlotte Corday.
  • 1934: Adolf Hitler gave a nationally televised speech to justify the Night of the Long Knives.
  • 1941: Britain and the Soviet Union sign a mutual aid agreement.
  • 1954: Ellis Island closed.
  • 1966: 1ke and Tina Turner score their first big UK hit with 'River Deep – Mountain High'.
  • 1974: George McCray hits No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with “Rock Your Baby.”

  • 2004: A severe tornado tracks 15.6 miles through Woodford County, Illinois.
  • 2015: 130 people killed in Paris terrorist attacks.

When other users search for the same question on the tech giant's website, they simply see the message “AI Overview is not available for this search.”

But when you search for “What happened on March 30th?” Google's AI remembers the 1981 assassination attempt on President Reagan.

“March 30, 1981 marked a momentous day in history when U.S. President Ronald Reagan was shot and killed by John Hinckley Jr. outside a Washington, D.C., hotel. Other people, including officials, were also injured.

Google also offers “key takeaways” about the March 30, 1981 assassination attempt, describing it as “Reagan Assassination Attempt: This is the most notable event related to March 30.” .

“Shooter: John Hinckley Jr.,” the tech giant elaborated, adding, “Location: Outside a hotel in Washington, DC.”

This isn't the first time Google has acted biased against Donald Trump before and during the election. The search giant had previously hidden autocomplete suggestions for searches related to assassination attempts. It later claimed this was a “mistake” and Google's standard response to allegations of bias. On election day, Google provided radically different answers to the question “where to vote” depending on which candidate's name was included. This was also classified as a bug by the Masters of the Universe.

Many people alive today know about the July 13 assassination attempt on the 45th and soon-to-be 47th president in Butler, Pennsylvania, because they lived through it. But Google's failure to recall the incident serves as an eerie reminder that Big Tech is behind this incident. Future generations will be empowered to erase history because they will not be able to find information about one of the most historic events that occurred in the early 21st century.
