White House criticizes Jack White for describing Trump’s Oval Office as 'gaudy'

The White House criticized Jack White, the former frontman of the White Stripes, calling him a “washed, has-been loser” after he mocked President Trump’s opulent renovation of the Oval Office.

White House spokesman Stephen Chen remarked, “Jack White seems to be out of touch, using his time to post on social media as his career fades.” This came after White took to social media to describe the new golden accents in the Oval Office as “fluffy” and “vulgar,” as reported by the Daily Beast.

Chen added that it’s clear White didn’t grasp the significance and grandeur of the Oval Office, stating that his comments were rude and inauthentic for someone claiming to be an artist.

White, known for his critiques of Trump, shared a photo on Instagram shortly after Trump met with Ukrainian President Voldy Mirzelensky at the White House. The image highlighted the gold embellishments Trump has added since returning in January.

In his post, White criticized Trump, saying, “Look at how unpleasant you are,” and referred to the situation as reminiscent of the film “Idiocracy.”

On Wednesday evening, White responded to Chen’s comments with a lengthy Instagram follow-up. He noted how amusing it was that the White House reacted to his aesthetic critique, calling Trump a “fascist, racist, and sexist conman.”

White emphasized, “It wasn’t just about calling them out. My remarks were purely about the decor in the Oval Office.” He called the White House’s response a “badge of honor” and humorously suggested that being accused of pretending to be an artist would make a fitting epitaph on his gravestone.

He further expressed, “Being led by this particular conman is embarrassing, and the acknowledgment from the actual White House itself is a badge of honor. Trump’s supporters are villains who take from others for their own gain,” he wrote.

The White House has not yet responded to inquiries regarding the ongoing feud.

White has a history of targeting Trump and his supporters. In a 2023 post, he expressed frustration over attempts to “normalize” Trump, and previously, the band filed a lawsuit against the Trump campaign over the misuse of their song “Seven Nation Army,” which was later dropped after the video was removed.
