White House Critiques MS NOW Correspondent Over Shooting Remarks
The White House has expressed disapproval of Ken Dilanian, a correspondent for MS NOW, regarding his initial comments about a recent shooting involving the National Guard in Washington, D.C. During a news segment, Dilanian was asked to discuss the atmosphere in the city since President Donald Trump had deployed the National Guard earlier this year. He mentioned that the presence of the National Guard has become routine, suggesting that it’s no longer seen as controversial, especially after D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser approved its deployment.
Dilanian then shifted the conversation to the political climate across the country. He remarked, “There’s a lot of controversy in the U.S. about ICE. You know, they wear uniforms and masks.” He noted that in American cities, you might encounter individuals in uniform, which could cause discomfort for some people. He referenced the shooting that had just occurred.
Two National Guardsmen Injured in Shooting Incident
In subsequent discussions with Katie Toole, Dilanian also raised questions about the legality of the National Guard’s presence in the capital, pointing to a federal judge’s ruling, which the Trump administration is currently appealing.
The White House Rapid Response Team criticized Dilanian on social media, stating, “@KDilanianMSNOW, two heroes were shot while defending our nation’s capital. Is this what you learned?” They further claimed, “Democrats are constantly undermining patriots, labeling them ‘illegals’ and implying they could soon be shooting Americans. It’s troubling.”
MS NOW Faces Backlash over Dilanian’s Comments
Critics of Dilanian’s remarks have also been vocal. Andrew Corbett from Turning Point USA called for a reexamination of the incident, characterizing MS NOW’s rebranding as “disgusting.” Former ESPN reporter Ed Warder suggested that blaming the shooter would make more sense. Additionally, writer Bonchy from Red State expressed strong disapproval of Dilanian’s conduct.
Currently, two National Guard members are reported to be in critical condition following what authorities are labeling a targeted attack just a few blocks from the White House. The unidentified suspect is in custody and receiving medical attention for injuries sustained in the incident.
