New White House Website Section Targets ‘Fake News’
The White House recently introduced a new section on its website titled “Media Offenders of the Week,” aimed at criticizing what it terms “fake news media.” This initiative debuted on a Friday and features a banner proclaiming “Misleading. Biased. Exposed,” with a focus on various media outlets and their coverage.
The page calls out organizations like CBS News, The Independent, and The Boston Globe. It specifically references a heated issue surrounding a viral video where six Democratic Congress members urged military personnel to disregard illegitimate orders. The White House contends that such portrayals of President Trump’s actions have been misrepresented, suggesting his call for accountability has been unfairly interpreted as a call for “execution.”
The White House stated that the media has wrongly insinuated that Trump issued illegal commands to the military. According to them, all orders from Trump were within the bounds of law, and it’s perilous for Congress members to incite defiance among military ranks. They assert that the Democratic party has falsely implicated Trump in this controversy.
Moreover, the new section includes a “Criminal Hall of Shame,” listing additional organizations like CNN, MSNBC (now MS NOW), and the Washington Post, alongside CBS News. These listings come with tags that categorize them under accusations of “bias,” “lies,” and even “medical malpractice.”
The Washington Post responded to its inclusion by reaffirming its commitment to “accurate and rigorous journalism.” Meanwhile, CBS News has not yet provided comments regarding its mention in this context.
Other repeat offenders named by the White House include prominent names like The New York Times, Axios, and Politico, suggesting that these organizations frequently engage in similar behaviors.
Currently, the focus of this campaign echoes significant media claims about the so-called “unlawful orders” and allegations that Trump hinted at executing individuals featured in that controversial video. In his own responses on Truth Social, Trump suggested, “Sedition, punishable by death!”
In a related note, the Pentagon announced it is investigating Senator Mark Kelly (D-Ariz.) after he appeared in the aforementioned video advocating for military personnel to reject illegal directives. This could lead to court-martial or other repercussions under military law.
Kelly has expressed his intent to continue voicing his opinions, emphasizing that he will not succumb to intimidation.
