White House: Noem should ‘stop digging herself into a hole’ after suggestion to shoot Biden’s dog

The White House on Monday responded to South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem’s (R) suggestion that President Biden’s dog Commander should have been shot after biting a Secret Service agent. We should,” he said.

Noem recently came under fire after revealing in her soon-to-be-published memoir that she shot and killed her 14-month-old dog, Cricket, nearly 20 years ago. In an interview on CBS News’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday, she said she feared Biden’s German shepherd, which bit Secret Service agents at least 20 times between October 2022 and June 2023, would suffer a similar fate. I suggested that I should have followed it.

In response, White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre told reporters: “What I’m saying to her is, she needs to stop digging.”

It added that the White House found Noem’s comments about the commander in chief on Sunday to be “offensive” and “ridiculous.”

“This is a dog-loving country and we have leaders talking about cornering and killing dogs,” she said. “And that’s an alarming statement.”

In her recent book, “No Going Back,” Noem wrote that if she were to reach the White House, she would differ from Biden in how she deals with commanders in chief.

“Greetings to Cricket, Commander,” she wrote.

Jean-Pierre said Monday that the commander-in-chief was living with his family in Delaware after leaving the White House in October.

Noem, who is believed to be a potential vice presidential nominee in former President Donald Trump’s 2024 presidential campaign, told CBS: “So, before you decide whether to get a dog or not, and what to do with the dog, how many people should you have?” Is it enough for someone to be attacked and sustain dangerous injuries?” ? ”

“That’s an issue for which the president should be responsible,” she added.
