White House Press Secretary Addresses President’s Racism Accusations

During a press briefing on Wednesday, Caroline Levitt, the White House press secretary, responded to a reporter’s inquiry regarding instances when the president was unjustly labeled a “racist.” The question stemmed from a statement made by the president about Jesse Jackson, in which he referred to accusations against him as being from “thugs and lunatics” on the radical left.

The reporter pressed Levitt for specific examples, to which she seemed quite taken aback, asking, “Are you kidding?” The reporter confirmed he was serious.

Levitt insisted there were numerous examples and noted her intention to gather her team to find instances of radical Democrats who have unfairly accused the president of racism. She expressed confidence that many people in the room, as well as on television, would support her claims, emphasizing that she had observed such accusations firsthand.

Administration’s Actions for Black History Month

Levitt highlighted the president’s upcoming event honoring Black History Month and listed several policies aimed at supporting the Black community, such as funding for Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). She stated, “This president has done a lot for all Americans, regardless of race,” and asserted that the accusations of racism against him were grossly unfair.

Trump Remembers Jesse Jackson

This discussion was taking place in the wake of the passing of Rev. Jesse Jackson, who died at 84. President Trump recalled Jackson as a “good man” and acknowledged contributions to his civil rights work, including supporting requests for criminal justice reform. He also mentioned providing office space to Jackson’s group, the Rainbow Push Coalition.

Interestingly, Trump also pointed out his criticism of Jackson for his support of former President Obama, describing the late pastor as a “force of nature” but hinting at his differing political views.

Expressing condolences, Trump said, “He loved his family so much… Jesse will be sorely missed!” Meanwhile, he has consistently defended himself against accusations of racism, citing his relationships with prominent Black figures and his policies as evidence against such claims.
