As the number of infected people rapidly increases in China, the first case of HMPV infection is confirmed in India

India has confirmed its first case of human metapneumovirus (HMPV) infection in children, with a total of seven cases reported as of Tuesday. According to the Economic Times, cases were reported in Bengaluru, Nagpur, Tamil Nadu and Ahmedabad. And this case comes amid reports that HMPV is rapidly increasing in China. India's federal government has asked states to step up surveillance and spread awareness to prevent the spread of the virus.
