White House Critiques “Radical Left” on Star Wars Day
The White House took to social media on Sunday to criticize what it referred to as the “Radical Left,” sharing AI-generated images featuring former President Donald Trump wielding lightsabers in celebration of May 4th, known as Star Wars Day.
This date has become a fan-favorite for those celebrating the Star Wars franchise, often marked by playful social media posts. On this occasion, however, the White House chose not just to celebrate but also to address some of Trump’s most vocal critics.
The post remarked, “The fourth may be a joyous occasion for many, even for individuals like murderers, drug lords, and those dangerous prisoners, along with the radical left who are determined to bring notorious MS-13 gang members into our galaxy. Rest assured, you are not the rebellion. May the fourth be with you.”
Interestingly, the creators behind Star Wars have often dismissed complaints regarding the films’ narratives, suggesting that “Most people are aliens.”
The accompanying AI-generated image depicted a character in a Jedi robe, complete with a red lightsaber, flanked by two bald eagles and American flags, adding a patriotic twist to the visuals.
Responses to the post were a mixed bag. One user pointed out the incongruity, mentioning attempts to access information about the fictional “Death Star” and a humorous reference to Darth Vader as an honorary judge during their legal efforts.
Furthermore, from May 4th to 6th, Amazon is promoting a Star Wars-themed collection, inviting fans to partake in the celebrations.
Another user questioned the meanings behind the Red Lightsaber, recalling how it often signifies the Dark Side, characterized by figures like Darth Vader and Kylo Ren. According to Wookieepedia, the red hue is a product of negative emotions like anger and fear in the lightsaber creation process.
Some politicians joined in on the Star Wars Day festivities, sharing light-hearted critiques about the event, describing it as “terrifying and embarrassing.”
One user humorously criticized the White House’s portrayal of lightsaber colors, asking, “Isn’t there one nerd on staff to clarify which lightsaber colors represent good or evil?”
Supporters of Trump responded vigorously, defending the imagery and asserting that using red lightsabers to claim he’s associated with evil is misleading, pointing out that red is often linked to Republican branding in the U.S. context.
The White House wasn’t the only federal entity to engage in May 4th festivities. The U.S. Army Pacific shared a post featuring two soldiers brandishing lightsabers designed in red, white, and blue, in a nighttime combat portrayal.
Their message asserted, “Across all known and unknown galaxies, no force can match our discipline, strength, and accuracy. We don’t just protect the present; we safeguard the future. Victory is not guaranteed. May the fourth be with you.”
