Whitlock in complete distress: Caitlin Clark's 'star is fading’ as Angel Reese rises

Caitlin Clark’s Star Power Diminishes

Caitlin Clark, renowned point guard, has historically been a crowd-puller during her time at college and now with the Indiana Fever.

However, there seems to be a shift in that momentum.

Tickets for an Indiana Fever game are currently being sold for as low as $28, which some are interpreting as a sign that Clark’s popularity is on the decline. “Caitlin Clark’s star is dying, there’s no question about that,” remarked Jason Whitlock.

On the flip side, Angel Reese, Clark’s rival from the Atlanta Dream, is reportedly thriving, with the team enjoying a solid 2-0 start this season partly due to her impact.

This rise of Reese coinciding with Clark’s potential decline is a troubling reality for loyal fans of Clark.

“If Angel Reese wins the WNBA title before Caitlin Clark, or if they both win at the same time as Clark’s star fades, that would be quite a nightmare scenario for me,” he admitted.

Despite feeling tempted to jump ship, Whitlock expresses his commitment to supporting Clark, stating, “I’m going to stay true to Caitlin Clark of the Indiana Fever, although the start of the season feels a bit disheartening,” referencing the Fever’s uneven 1-1 record and Clark’s ongoing back issues.

Whitlock previously claimed that Clark was okay after surviving a rough incident last season that affected her health, alleging that the WNBA had been dishonest about her condition.

“I believe they’re playing with the truth again this season,” Whitlock said. “There are real worries that Caitlin Clark might never regain her peak physical condition since entering the WNBA, which could lead to her becoming a fading star.”

Another commentator, Ben Daniel, weighs in, suggesting that if Clark’s skills really are declining, it could spell “doom and gloom for the WNBA,” as she has been a major economic draw for the league.

Regarding Clark’s injury, Daniel voiced skepticism, humorously recalling that when he played FIBA ball, he rarely needed immediate attention. Yet now, back in Indiana, he suddenly feels the need for more assistance.

Whitlock remains cautiously hopeful that Clark’s injuries are not severe, yet he notes several “clues” that might indicate otherwise.

“Are we about to witness the arrival of a new player at her position, similar to Michael Jordan in women’s basketball?” he posed, referencing the Fever’s recent draft choice, point guard Raven Johnson.

Whitlock remarked that the Fever’s strategy seems to be shifting away from relying on Clark.

In light of all this, he suspects that Clark may indeed be on a downward trajectory.

“It appears to me that the Indiana Fever is operating under the assumption that Caitlin Clark is damaged goods,” he said.
