Nadine Ang, the former chief financial officer of Royal Bank of Canada (RBC), was fired on Friday amid allegations of misconduct. She allegedly violated the code of conduct by maintaining personal relationships with other employees that were not reported and could have resulted in preferential treatment such as promotions or raises.

As a result of the investigation, Mr. Ahn and another bank employee were cleared of any wrongdoing regarding the bank’s overall performance, strategy, or financial statements. But even though she had no evidence of financial wrongdoing, she said the bank deemed her actions to be a violation of its code of conduct.   • She was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. She attended the University of Toronto where she studied Business and Commerce. After completing her education, she also obtained a certificate from the Canadian Chartered Accountants.
  • Anne joined Royal Bank of Canada in 2002 as a Senior Manager in Transfer Pricing and Corporate Finance. She then held various positions in the bank.
  • She became the bank’s first female CFO in 2021 and previously served as senior vice president of wholesale finance and investor relations for five years.
  • During his time as RBC’s CFO, he was responsible for corporate development, investor relations, tax, performance management, and finance. She also oversaw the Asset and Liability Committee and, working closely with other executives, she played a key role in determining RBC’s strategic direction.
  • Ang is reportedly preparing to take over as CEO Dave McKay. Had she done so, she would have become the first female CEO of a major Canadian bank.
