Whoopi Goldberg Critiques GOP for Trump’s Comments on Rob Reiner

Whoopi Goldberg has called out Republican lawmakers for their silence regarding President Donald Trump’s insensitive remarks about Rob Reiner, who was tragically killed alongside his wife in their Los Angeles home recently.

After the news about the alleged murder of the Reiners’ son, Nick, Trump made a false claim on Truth Social, suggesting that the director succumbed to “a serious, unrelenting, and incurable, mentally paralyzing disease known as Trump Derangement Syndrome, and the anger he provoked in others.” He further reiterated this stance at a later press conference, labeling Rob Reiner as “crazy” and “very bad for our country.”

“You know who’s actually bad for the country?” Goldberg remarked during today’s episode of The View. “I don’t know what kind of upbringing you had, but this man’s family is grieving. Your comments, especially when you stand by them, make you bad for the country, really bad for the country.”

She did acknowledge several Republican figures who have criticized Trump’s objectionable comments, including Louisiana Rep. John Kennedy, Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, Kentucky Rep. Thomas Massie, and New York Rep. Mike Lawler.

“We all understand that when something awful occurs, we should unite,” Goldberg stated. “We don’t draw lines simply because someone is disliked. That shouldn’t be the approach.”

Goldberg didn’t hold back in her criticism of the Republican politicians who remained silent, directly addressing the camera and asserting, “There’s no legitimacy in what he wrote. You can’t justify that. And all the Republicans who stay quiet are utterly failing.”

Joy Behar chimed in, adding Trump’s recent post to a growing catalog of statements tarnishing his legacy.

“This material will be preserved in the Smithsonian for years to come, impacting future generations long after we’re gone. Everyone will know what he said,” she emphasized. “His legacy is in ruins. But it appears he doesn’t care.”
