Whoopi Goldberg Shares That Her High-Paying Role on 'The View' 'Can Feel Like Hell'

Whoopi Goldberg Voices Concerns Over Her Job

Whoopi Goldberg expressed her struggles with the pressures of her high-paying role on The View, describing the experience as at times overwhelming. This revelation came Tuesday morning when she and her co-host received a warm greeting from the studio audience.

“Let me share something with you,” she said. “This job can feel like… well, hell, so I appreciate each and every one of you. I’m really thankful for the warm welcome today.” She added, “So, what’s happening out there? It’s quite amusing, really.”

Reports indicate that Goldberg earns approximately $8 million annually as a co-host on the show—a position she’s held since 2007 after taking over for Rosie O’Donnell.

According to sources, Disney and ABC executives hinted earlier this year that the hosts should dial back their criticisms of Trump.

However, the hosts have consistently addressed Trump and Republicans. Reports suggest that executives are growing increasingly frustrated with the show’s political tone, feeling it strays from its original intent as a women-focused talk show. Sources reveal that Disney CEO Bob Iger and ABC News president Armin Karamehmedovic recently convened a meeting, where they discussed the need to steer conversations away from political issues.

“Karamehmedovic expressed a preference for episodes featuring celebrity guests, encouraging a broader focus,” the outlet noted.

Even though Iger and Karamehmedovic didn’t issue strict mandates for change, their suggestions have reportedly unsettled the hosts. Ana Navarro, for instance, stated that their audience tunes in for political commentary.

“This is what our viewers desire. If we suddenly stop discussing politics, doesn’t that send a misleading message?” she reportedly told executives.
