Germany, for example, requires all manufacturers to stockpile at least six months’ worth of medicines…

Since the novel coronavirus outbreak, the country has continued to rely on China for prescription drugs. And as a recent article on pharmaceutical industry news site PharmaNewsIntelligence explains, as tensions between the United States and China rise, there is growing concern that China could use this leverage to its advantage. It has become so.
Experts have suggested that expanding pharmaceutical trade between the United States and China poses serious risks, as hostile relations could lead to supply chain shutdowns. It is not unrealistic that pharmaceuticals could be used as a weapon in a trade war, as suggested in past China strategic talks. Additionally, the FDA has lax oversight of Chinese facilities, raising questions about the safety of foreign manufacturers.
