Why does Philadelphia hate Joe Buck?

Joe Buck doesn't have to tell Kylie Kelce that the City of Brotherly Love hates him, but he wants to understand why.

“I know you guys hate me.” the sportscaster told the crowd On Friday, they gathered at the Union Transfer in Philadelphia for the “They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce” show. “But tonight, when I walk off this stage, you'll love me.”

Buck was invited on stage by Jason Kelce, perhaps the most beloved man in Philadelphia. And the announcer looked like he was finally getting the answer he hadn't gotten in a long time.

However, Kylie Kelce couldn't pinpoint the reason for her hometown city's disdain.

“I grew up in a house where I was taught to hate Joe Buck,” she said.

“But why?” her husband pressed. “This is the kind of reaction that not everyone really has a reason for.”

“My dad taught me that,” Kylie said. “I was very aware of the patterns that always seemed to be the case. [Buck] I was rooting for other teams. ”

“But aren't there any examples of that?” asked Jason.

“Of course not,” Kylie said.

Buck finally got his chance to voice his opinion to Kyrie Kelce, the crowd at the Union Transfer, and all the Philadelphians watching at home (if only a few).

“I get mad at guys who say a Yankees player just hit a home run,” Buck said. “Okay. Actually, I don't take it personally.”

Despite his defense of the station and his anti-Philadelphian stance behind closed doors, the city hasn't always given him much cooperation.

Only 18 championships have been won by Philadelphia teams across the four major leagues, but eight of those wins were won by teams not based in Philadelphia.

Since 2000, only the Eagles (2017) and Phillies (2008) have held parades on Broad Street.

Did Buck, who has been calling football and baseball for the better part of the last 30 years, just not often heckle and yell at Philadelphia fans?

It remains unclear whether the people of Philadelphia loved Buck by the time he left the stage on Friday.

Nevertheless, having been on the air for many years, he's certainly smart enough to know that making a fuss about a slight lack of hardware won't help his cause.
