Intel takeover rumors are swirling again
A website that follows the semiconductor industry called SemiAccurate said its sources claimed that an unnamed company is looking to acquire Intel.
SemiAccurate said it read an email sent by the acquirer to a small group of executives about the full acquisition of Intel and is currently 90% confident that the plan is genuine.
This isn't the first time Intel has been rumored to be involved in a takeover amidst its struggles. Qualcomm In September, Intel was reportedly interested in acquiring Intel, or at least its chip design division, but by November that interest was said to have waned.
Is there a possibility that Intel will be acquired?
Considering Intel's plummeting stock price, its large assets, and brand name, Intel's acquisition is not far-fetched.
Intel has not said it is considering an acquisition, but the company currently lacks a permanent CEO and its stock price has been in free fall, losing 60% of its value last year.
Today's pop is a little surprising since SemiAccurate is not a well-known publisher and no other news sources have confirmed this news. But it's clear that investors are looking forward to some good news about Intel, whether it's an acquisition or something else.
For now, I'm not betting on the company being acquired, but in the long term it's certainly possible.
