Why Knicks can’t afford to let Pistons off the mat in Game 2

At the end of the night, Jalane Branson as The Garden Hero, Jalen Branson with “Cape” and Tom Thibodeau’s words describe the strange sequence when Branson returns to the locker room to return a new pair of sneakers, introducing Cade Cunningham’s Anninavy.

They were 5:27 as they weren’t down 1-0 in their first round series with the Pistons. Without a 21-0 run, they would have faced a totally different crunch time on Saturday night. Maybe they couldn’t win at all. Detroit has shown that it can hold three-quarters on the road.

That’s not that the Knicks completed Game 1, and not that they were unimpressive. The 34-point Branson was impressive. Anunoby saved plenty of points, with 23 points when including Cunningham, but it was impressive. Payne poured 11 of 14 points in the fourth quarter, which was impressive. However, when they enter Game 2 on Monday, the Knicks will need to avoid being messed around in Game 2 as both teams will run it in the yard before the series moves to Detroit. They can take two days to think about and reflect on this young physical team as the series changes and what will happen in front of their fans.

The Knicks can’t reach another situation like in Game 1. They cannot bank the bank with another 21-0 run to save them. They cannot settle for a strong 5:27, forgetting the other 43:33. They need to take care of the business in the garden. Count the venues packed with fans and celebrities, everything you need for playoff basketball, and the victory in Detroit as bonuses.
