Every time a tragedy hits, so does Nick Castellanos. It became the biggest meme of baseball, and after Pope Francis’ death was announced by the Vatican on Monday, bettors naturally saw the opportunity to win cash.

Castellano’s love for homering began in 2020 when he served home during Tom Brennaman’s infamous apology for saying a homophobic slur. Brennaman paused midapology to announce Homer, and the meme was born.
They didn’t even have to wait a year for Castellanos to attack again. This time it was to suspend the pursuit of war veterans, the father of a longtime member of the Royals Broadcasting Team.

Another year, another Castellanos. It came in spring training while the broadcast team spoke about getting a DUI by Jays pitching coach Pete Walker.

There was a pattern now, but it won’t stop. Two months later, he suspended his message to the military and women on his anniversary.
Charlie Manuel has a stroke. Castellanos was there.
From here, he was relatively quiet during the on-air announcement, but even so, his big hit streak during the world events was absolutely legendary.

So, no one can really be held responsible for spending money on Castellanos tonight. It’s possible that he’ll grow bigger because this guy seems to shine whenever tragedy strikes.
