Why Patriots traded Joe Milton to Cowboys when they did

The reason for the surprising deal of Patriot backup quarterbacks has come to light.

New England handed out Joe Milton to the Cowboys for their fifth pick in early April, and when they met with the media on Tuesday, coach Mike Vrabel explained why the team did that.

According to the new Patriot bench boss, the move comes from the fact that the team believed Milton would reduce snaps under center during the offseason.

New England already hopes they will be under center at Drake May at the next franchise quarterback, signing veteran backup Josh Dobbs at the start of free agency.

“, etc. [we’re] I was excited to move forward with Drake and Josh. ”

Milton, the sixth pick in last year’s draft, went into the game for putts and completed 22 of 22 passes for 241 yards and one touchdown.

Vrabel’s comments will come in a week Reported by MassLive That Milton considered himself a starter, or at least someone Maye could give legal competition for his QB1 job.

The outlet added that if he wasn’t planning on getting a real chance, he would have preferred to be somewhere else.
