The brutal encounter took place in the Dominican Republic, and footage captured by an eyewitness shows TMZ. The sword fight took place in San Pedro de Macoris in the south of the island on Tuesday, but the video is not for the faint of heart. The machete was swung down violently, and the sound of steel colliding with steel was enough to send chills down my spine.

At one point in the wild, cinematic attack scene, a man’s hand was cut off and fell to the ground just outside a gas station, as confirmed in a video posted by TMZ.

The two combatants wrestled for several minutes. Their machetes swung wildly in the air, slicing through a small distance.

For a moment, one man appeared to have the advantage as he pushed his opponent to the ground. He fell on his back, but continued to toy with his opponent despite the disadvantage. The video showed him getting up on one knee, gaining some traction, and with one quick swing, the man on the ground cut his opponent’s hand off at the wrist.

The injured man’s shirt was covered in blood as he fled from his attackers. His hands remained on the ground at the place of the duel.

The man managed to keep walking, and then turned back, looking eerily calm. He walked steadily to where his hand was and bent down to pick it up from the ground.

According to TMZ, local reports said the men were friends and had been fighting over a woman. (Related: Man who tried to kill police officer with machete-like knife during NYE Times Square attack faces lengthy indictment)
