Several Tesla vehicles were hit by a fire at a service center in Las Vegas early Tuesday morning. Investigators believe the fire was intentional and local law enforcement suspects that an individual intentionally targeted the vehicle.
Authorities have not yet identified any motives, but the incident follows a pattern of vandalism against Tesla vehicles and dealers across the country. Tesla CEO Elon Musk's close ties with President Donald Trump have made the company a proxy target for those opposing the administration.
The Trump administration should not dismiss an attack on Tesla as a small act of vandalism. These are warning signs of more serious domestic terrorism.
It is a mistake to dismiss these attacks as small vandalism. These are political terrorist acts. If they are not punished, progressive activists will only escalate their tactics.
For many, Black Lives Matter and Antifa Riots acted as wake-up calls, revealing the breakdown of law and order. Destruction of property and attacks on individuals revealed that violence has become an accepted political tool. The shock came not only from the riots themselves, but also from the support received from elected officials and law enforcement agencies.
Political terrorism has long been a left-wing tactic, and has emerged at a critical moment to advance its agenda. With almost monopoly on media and education, Progressive rewrites history and erases the violent past of the movement. However, this is not new and if serious action is not taken, more terrorism will continue.
The civil rights movement is often remembered as a series of peaceful protests that have led to major social changes. While many activists engaged in non-violent demonstrations that gained public sympathy, violence was also an important feature of the era. The Harlem Riots of 1964, the Los Angeles Riots of 1965, and the Detroit and Newark riots of 1967 demonstrate this reality. Following the assassination of Martin Luther King Jr., riots broke out in more than 100 American cities between 1968 and 1969. These political violence are rarely discussed as movements are judged favorably. However, they played a key role in shaping the period, including helping with Richard Nixon's election.
In 1969, future Barack Obama leader Bill Ayers co-founded The Weather Underground, a left-wing terrorist group. The revolutionary Marxist organization incited “days of fury” riots in Chicago, bombing the Capitol, the Pentagon, the California Attorney General's Office, and the New York Police Department. Despite their violent history, several members of the group later secured an honorable academic position.
Left political violence did not end in the 1960s. The Miami Riots of 1980, the Los Angeles Riots of 1992, the Cincinnati Riots of 2001, and the Ferguson Riots of 2014, show that they are recurring features of American politics. The patterns are predictable. The media frames legitimate narratives, progressive activists adjust for anxiety, and political pressure, if any, is unlikely to face consequences for perpetrators. The American left has long treated violence as a legitimate tool for persuasion. And we expect to use it without accountability.
After the 2020 mob violence, the victorious Democrats shifted from the usual fusion of soft power and the plausible negativity towards obvious authoritarian tactics. The Biden administration has directed the FBI to investigate parents protesting at school board meetings and Catholics attending Latin Mass. The Justice Department has accused a man of over-stopping sentences for protesters on January 6, and also posting memes that chuckle Hillary Clinton.
Democrats also tried to bankrupt Donald Trump, take him out of the vote, and ultimately put him in jail. When these efforts failed, they escalated their tactics, leading to multiple assassination attempts. Their political violence soon led to the injury of the tragic death of Corey Comperatore, a firefighter who soon became president and died in the protection of others.
The Democrats have been defeated at all levels. Their party's approval ratings continued to decline, their policies repelled voters, and they lost both the electoral college and the popularity vote in their final elections. Frustrated and hopeless progressives have returned to their most reliable strategy: political violence.
Some conservatives dismiss the recent destruction and destruction that target Tesla as a minor property crime, but these cases do not exist in the vacuum. They are part of a broader pattern of escalating violence from movements that refuse to accept political losses.
The left has already embraced and celebrated political assassinations for the past year. Many celebrities and political commentators have publicly expressed their complaints that the Assassin bullet had slightly missed killing Donald Trump on live television. Meanwhile, the entire worshipper subculture is formed around Luigi Mangione, who is allegedly assassinated the CEO of UnitedHealthcare. Consumed by despair and anger, progressives assault on anyone, anyone, who is considered political opposition.
Political violence in the United States must be filled with zero tolerance. For a long time, the left has enjoyed the ability to use violence as a political tool, relying on media monopolies to protect perpetrators from legal and political consequences. Progressive has already managed to escalate their tactics to assassination and kill multiple victims.
The Trump administration should not dismiss an attack on Tesla as a small act of vandalism. These are warning signs of more serious domestic terrorism. Federal law enforcement must act promptly. If leftist organisations play a role in planning or promoting these attacks, it should be treated as a national terrorist threat. Authorities now have to take decisive action against violent extremists. Or they must risk promoting them to commit even worse crimes in the future.
