In one key race to watch this year, Lt. Governor Mike Kehoe and State House Minority Leader Crystal Quade are running as the Republican and Democratic candidates, respectively, to face off in the November election to replace Missouri Governor Mike Parson, who is not seeking reelection.
Other Republican candidates included state Sen. Bill Eigel, Secretary of State Jay Ashcroft and Lt. Gov. Mike Kehoe, all of whom have the endorsement of former President Donald Trump.
On the Democratic side, Quaid faced off against billionaire fast-food franchise owner Mike Hamra, who was making his political debut.

Ashcroft is an attorney and the son of former U.S. Attorney General John Ashcroft during the George W. Bush administration. He earned his law degree from the University of Missouri School of Law. He was elected Missouri Secretary of State in 2016.
Kehoe began his political career in 2004 when he was elected to the Missouri State House of Representatives. He served in the state House of Representatives until 2010. He was then elected to the Missouri State Senate, a position he held until 2018. During his time in the Senate, he was known for his work on economic development, transportation and conservative fiscal policy.

Eigel is a former U.S. Air Force officer and successful businessman. Prior to entering politics, he had a career in the financial industry, including investment banking and private equity. Eigel was first elected to the Missouri Senate in 2016.
Missouri’s Republican dominance is reflected in its control of both legislative chambers. The state has consistently supported Republican candidates in presidential elections since 2000, and Republican candidates have won the governorship and most statewide offices in recent elections.
