Winston Marshall Critiques Music Industry’s Response to Anti-Semitic Attack

Winston Marshall, the former guitarist of Mumford & Sons, has expressed his discontent regarding the music industry’s lack of response to an anti-Semitic incident in Boulder, Colorado.

He described the situation as “very dark” for America and voiced disappointment over the industry’s reluctance to condemn Hamas during an appearance on “Fox & Friends First” on June 2. Marshall mentioned feeling emotional about the violence, particularly after the murders of two Jews associated with the Israeli embassy in Washington, D.C., and noted an alarming trend of rising hostility toward Jewish individuals.

“It frustrates me that not only are we witnessing these horrific events, but certain areas aren’t even acknowledging their occurrence,” he remarked.

Marshall also criticized recent acts of violence attributed to the “far left,” questioning the implications of slogans like “globalize the intifada” and the phrase “from the river to the sea.” He suggested that such rhetoric might incite individuals, like the Boulder attacker, to take action.

He further expressed disappointment with the reactions of fellow musicians who support pro-Palestinian sentiments. “With 58 hostages still in Gaza, and 23 believed to be alive, why aren’t these protesters standing against Hamas?” he asked.

“Being pro-Palestinian should mean being anti-Hamas. The same applies to pro-Israel advocates. After all, Hamas is harming Palestinians as well. It’s a strange moral contradiction,” he reflected.

The musician did not name specific artists he was referring to, but his comments seemed to hint at a recent Coachella performance where Image Dragons’ lead singer wrapped himself in a Palestinian flag during a concert in Milan, Italy.

In a related incident, Egyptian Mohamed Sabri Soliman was detained after allegedly shouting “Free Palestine” and other anti-Israel slogans while burning materials to support the Israeli hostages held by Hamas in Gaza.
