The boys, who were students at Royal Oaks Elementary School, were dropped off at the same corner “not in front of the detention pond,” a spokesperson for the Sun Prairie School District told the Wisconsin State Journal.

According to the newspaper, students in boys' grades do not need an adult to meet them when they get off the bus, as the policy is that it is the responsibility of the parent or guardian to supervise the child once they are removed from the bus.

On January 5, the brothers were playing around the reservoir behind their Sun Prairie apartment building after school when they fell through the ice. Facebook

It's unclear whether any adults were there to meet the two brothers at the end of the day.

Sabrina Madison, founder of the Progress Center for Black Women, said there is now a movement to install fencing in front of that pond and other bodies of water in the area to prevent similar tragedies. Ta.
