Voters in the battleground state of Wisconsin will go to the polls in November to decide whether to amend the state constitution to explicitly ban noncitizens from voting in municipal, state and federal elections.

In recent years, North Dakota, Alabama, Florida, Colorado, Ohio, and Louisiana have passed amendments to their state constitutions that specify that only U.S. citizens can vote. Republicans say they are trying to protect election integrity as immigrants flood the border.
