A California woman was arrested Wednesday after 27 dead horses were discovered at multiple properties outside of Sacramento.
Jan Johnson, 62, of Clements, California, was taken into custody Wednesday after authorities executed search warrants on multiple properties as part of an animal neglect investigation. report KCRA3.

Officials say several malnourished horses were found at the facility, which had restricted food and water. As a result of the search, 16 horses were rescued and are now in the care of Oakdale Horse Rescue.
Additional horses and other animals are reportedly still being evaluated for thriving as of this writing.
According to the sheriff's office, Johnson owned a farm with animals. report CBS News.
Authorities added that Johnson had a warrant for her arrest for allegedly making threats against the school, employees and officers.
Johnson was booked into the San Joaquin County Jail. There, he faces charges of cruelty to animals, threatening public servants, criminal threats and possession of a short-barreled shotgun.
She is scheduled to appear in court on Friday.
