A woman was arrested Thursday after she knocked down the American flag, placed it on muddy ground in a California park, and replaced it with a Mexican flag.

Kern County Councilman responded to the entrance to Hart Memorial Park in Bakersfield Thursday morning after receiving reports of someone trying to steal a US flag, the sheriff's office said in a social media post. .

When the Park Rangers arrived, they found the car on the grass near the flag stick, authorities said.

The woman, identified as 24-year-old Crystal Aguilar, is said to have secured a flagpole and cut off the chain that threw the American flag onto the ground. She then raised the Mexican flag in its place and said they were on “Mexican land.”

A body-worn camera video of a sheriff's deputy shows that he says, “You won't tell me what to do, this is the land of Mexico, mother—–” .

She is said to have since resisted the deputies and threatened to kill their families, including them and their children.

“Touch me, mother— and when your child dies,” she hears say. “I'm Mexican. I'm Aztec, motherf—- you're going to pay.”

“My dad is going to kill you and your whole family,” she added. “I'll let my father kill you.”

Aguilar was arrested and booked at L'Eld Prison on suspicion of trespassing, threatening peace officers and resisting arrest and vandalism. She is being held on $20,689 bail, according to prison records.
