Police say a woman fled an attempted rape on the Upper East Side, after the attacker then fled on an electric scooter.
Authorities say the victim, 27, was attacked in front of 349 East 76th Street on Friday around 11:45 p.m.
Police said officers responded to a 911 call reporting an “assault in progress” and found the victim in a distraught state, who was then taken to NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center in stable condition.
Unconfirmed reports said the brave victim was rescued by at least one good Samaritan and taken to nearby refuge.
The alarming incident comes at a time when the number of rapes in the city has jumped 11 percent, according to the latest data from the New York Police Department.
An NYPD spokesman told The Post that the unidentified assailant fled westbound on East 76th Street on a “two-wheeled scooter.”
No arrests have been made.
The attack shocked New Yorkers.

“There’s an influx of people from all over the world, which has led to an increase in crime. I think the mayor needs to do more to police the city,” said a man who gave his name as Chris, who was working out at the nearby New York Sporting Club. “You can’t underestimate the safety of New Yorkers these days.
The area is “generally safe,” a gym front desk worker told The Post.
“It’s really surprising that something like this could happen,” a gym staff member said. “It’s scary. You just have to be careful.”
The NYPD says the shocking incident happened around 11.45pm on Friday in front of 349 East 76th Street, and comes at a time when the city is seeing an 11% spike in rape cases, according to the department’s latest data.
