Woman Fires Shot, Kills Man Accused of Groping Another Customer in Beauty Salon, Authorities Report

Incident at Compton Beauty Store

A woman fatally shot a man inside a beauty store in Compton on Sunday. This occurred after he allegedly assaulted another woman and threatened a customer, as reported by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

The Sheriff’s Department detailed in an Oct. 20 report that the incident unfolded around 3:21 p.m. The man, whose identity remains undisclosed, reportedly followed a woman into the store and groped her. When employees asked him to leave, he became aggressive, damaging merchandise in the process. Witnesses, including both staff and customers, noted that he had an object in his hand that looked like a knife.

Following this, he allegedly made threats to kill everyone present in the store. In response, a female customer, concerned for her safety and that of others, pointed her gun at him. When he turned towards her, she fired again, hitting him.

The decision on whether to charge the woman over the shooting will be made by the District Attorney’s Office. Store employees mentioned that the whole event was recorded by security cameras.

According to CBS News, the 42-year-old man had connections to gangs and a history of criminal behavior, including assault and robbery.

Regular customer Melody Johnson expressed her relief to CBS News, stating, “I’m glad no one got hurt.” However, she also reflected, “It’s alarming that people come in here and have weapons. It’s terrible that something like that happened in this community.”

As of now, the investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
