A woman found dead at baggage claim at Chicago’s O’Hare Airport has committed suicide, authorities said.

The body of Virginia Christine Vinton, 57, was discovered entangled in a baggage conveyor at Terminal 5 about 7:45 a.m. Thursday. ABC7 Chicago reported..

Vinton, who lived in Waxhaw, North Carolina, about 45 minutes from Charlotte, was identified by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office on Friday, the outlet reported.

Vinton’s cause of death was classified as suicide by hanging and asphyxiation.

She did not work at the airport, but Chicago police said she was captured on video entering a restricted area of ​​the terminal around 2:30 a.m. on the day she died.

Her body was discovered just a few hours later.

Police added that it was unclear why Vinton had sneaked into an employee-only area.

ABC7 reported that the conveyor belt area where she was found is guarded but not considered high security.

The incident remains under investigation.
