A woman from Missouri has been taken into custody under suspicion of stealing a firearm from her father with an intention to use it for an assassination attempt against President Donald Trump.
On January 4, deputies from the Ozark County Sheriff’s Office arrested Johnetta Parsons, who resides in Thornfield, which is roughly an hour east of Branson. They discovered she had allegedly taken a SCCY CPX 9mm handgun belonging to her father, Johnny Schofield.
Reportedly, Parsons confessed to wanting to kill President Trump with the stolen gun, as stated by McNeese.
A police report shared with Blaze News indicates that Schofield reached out to law enforcement on December 8, claiming that Johnetta had taken a handgun from her nightstand and exited their home with it in her possession.
Furthermore, the firearm was marked stolen in the Missouri Unified Law Enforcement System the very same day.
Almost a month later, on January 3, the Columbia Police Department managed to locate the missing weapon.
According to supplemental reports, the CPD informed Ozark County deputies that Parsons and another woman appeared at the police station in a vehicle loaded with various items they claimed belonged to “my friend Johnetta.” They were giving Johnetta a ride to St. Louis when she left her belongings in the car.
Among those items was the firearm, which was confirmed as stolen, according to the report.
Another CPD report indicated that two women told police Johnetta “hid multiple bags and boxes in her vehicle,” and later began texting that she possessed a gun.
During this time, Parsons also reached out to her daughter, Branetta McNeese, to inform her that her mother was “experiencing a mental health crisis.”
McNeese recounted that Parsons admitted to stealing a gun from a family in Ozark County, expressing intentions to kill Trump with it. She planned to take the stolen weapon to a Greyhound station to board a bus.
By the evening of January 4, Johnetta returned to her father’s home, appearing “agitated and enraged.” Schofield described her as “highly intoxicated and belligerent,” leading him to insist on pressing charges for the stolen gun.
He shared screenshots of a message from Johnetta, in which she acknowledged having a gun and urged him to report it stolen, revealing her intent to kill the president.
McNeese added that Parsons often experienced “hallucinations” regarding Trump, believing he was stalking her and had secret plans against her.
She also mentioned that these hallucinations might be connected to Parsons’ ongoing issues, including a previous disappearance and her refusal to seek mental health treatment, opting instead for alcohol and marijuana as relief.
A warrant for Parsons was issued on Monday, charging her with theft of a firearm, classified as a Class C felony, with bail set at $5,000, cash only.
The criminal complaint notes her prior criminal history, including two theft convictions from over 15 years ago.
The Ozark lieutenant reported the situation to the Secret Service in Chicago due to the alleged threat against the president, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Efforts to obtain comments from Schofield and Parsons have been unsuccessful.
