Woman in Her 40s Dies After Hospitalization from Disney’s Pop Century Resort
A woman in her 40s passed away on Sunday after being taken to a hospital from Disney’s Pop Century Resort in Florida. This incident marks the latest in a troubling series of deaths occurring at Walt Disney World recently.
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office confirmed via email that the woman was transported to a hospital where she later died, adding that there was no indication of foul play.
Reports indicate that authorities discovered her at the Pop Century Resort, a popular luxury hotel located near Epcot and Hollywood Studios, which are accessible through the Disney Skyliner gondola system.
This incident adds to multiple fatalities that occurred at Disney resorts in the past month. In fact, at least three guests reportedly died in just ten days.
The latest death followed that of a man in his 60s, whose death was classified as a suicide, according to a spokesperson from the Orange County Coroner’s Office. He was found at Disney’s Contemporary Resort, which is close to Magic Kingdom.
Earlier reports mentioned another man in his 60s who died due to a chronic illness at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground.
In another tragic incident, 31-year-old Summer Equites, a Disney enthusiast, was found deceased at the Contemporary Resort in what authorities labeled an “apparent suicide.”
Since its opening in 1971, there have been 68 reported deaths at Walt Disney World, as noted by the New York Post. Disney historian, Jim Hill, has discussed the resort’s dark history during interviews, suggesting a concerning trend surrounding visitors with severe emotional struggles seeking one last happy experience.
Hill remarked in a 2022 interview that there seems to be a phenomenon where depressed individuals wish to create a final joyful family memory at the park before taking drastic actions, specifically mentioning some who booked rooms in the Contemporary Resort with tragic intentions.
No additional details about the recent death have been released. As of now, Disney has not provided any comment regarding this incident.
