An undocumented individual has been convicted of trafficking his 12-year-old daughter in Fondulac County, Wisconsin.
This week, 34-year-old Elia Antonio entered a guilty plea for child trafficking, failing to protect the child, and misdemeanor bail jumping. He was sentenced in August and will serve over 52 years in a Wisconsin prison.
According to reports, Antonio allegedly paid over $250 last year involving his daughter and her boyfriend, 32-year-old Juan Carlos Rocha Mejia.
The girl informed police that Antonio had instructed her to get into the van. She stated that prior to reaching Rocha Mejia’s home, he directed her to sit in the back seat.
Authorities claim that once Antonio was inside the residence, Rocha Mejia took possession of the van. He then drove the vehicle to Oakfield and joined the girl in the back seat.
Ultimately, the girl managed to escape and sought help at a nearby residence to notify the police about the incident.
Rocha Mejia had crossed the US-Mexico border in October 2021 and was released in the US, later ending up in Wisconsin. He faces charges including first-degree sexual assault, child seduction, strangulation, and false imprisonment.
