Woman shot at a home daycare in Los Angeles

A shooting at a residential daycare in a wealthy part of Los Angeles left one woman injured on Tuesday afternoon.

Emergency responders arrived at the Kids Dream Learning Center in Granada Hills, located roughly 10 miles from Santa Clarita, shortly after the incident.

The injured woman, who suffered a gunshot wound to her hand, contacted the Los Angeles Police Department to report the shooting, as mentioned by authorities.

Officials indicated that there were children at the daycare during the incident, but fortunately, none were harmed.

Another woman was also seen being transported to a nearby hospital, but it’s uncertain whether she had sustained any injuries from the shooting.

Both women were reported to be in stable and conscious condition when taken to the hospital, according to reports.

Evidence markers were visible in the front area of the two-storey daycare.

By the time law enforcement arrived, the suspect had already fled the scene in a grey Tesla.

However, the suspect was apprehended seven miles away shortly thereafter.

The identity of the suspect remains undisclosed. Footage has surfaced showing an older white man with a grey beard being cuffed near the vehicle used in the escape.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident and any potential motives is ongoing.

Incidents like this are sadly not unusual in youth centers. For example, in 2020, a gunman opened fire near a daycare in the Bronx while eight children were present. The owner of that center remarked that if they had been outside when the shooting occurred, the kids could have been in serious danger.

In another unsettling event in 2022, a three-year-old girl was struck by a stray bullet outside a daycare in Brooklyn. She sustained a shoulder injury and needed a sling during her recovery.

In light of such experiences, concerned parents tend to reassess their living situations, often feeling the urgency to find safer environments.
